The interest for this method encompasses both physical conditioning and global health. Guided by a qualified instructor, each person safely does exercises adapted to his or her level.

Joseph Pilates is of German origin. He immigrated to the United States at the beginning of the twentieth century. He developed a series of exercises on a floor mat and other devices. His technique, originally known as Contrology, consists of encouraging the spirit to control the muscles in order to rebalance the body. All the while making it possible to relax tense areas of the body, Pilates focuses on the reinforcement of deep stabilizing muscles which are responsible for good posture. Taking into account posture and body alignment, exercises follow the rhythm of breath. Pilates is intended for whoever wishes to follow an intelligent, effective and healthy training. Although this method was popularized by stars, dancers and athletes, everyone can practise Pilates. The practice of Pilates includes many benefits, most notably:
